Joanna is now a twenty-four year old young woman. She struggles with the effects of several neurological conditions, a connective tissue disorder, and an immune system deficiency. After over forty surgeries and the majority of the past year in the hospital, she struggles daily with the knowledge that at some point her medical bills could bankrupt her family. While Joanna's medical situation is very unique, her struggle with medical insurance and large hospital bills is not.
A group of individuals who love Joanna recognized the urgency of the situation and decided to plan some fundraisers to defray the cost of Joanna’s health care for the time she
would be without insurance. However, the more they researched the more they realized that something bigger was needed. Joanna wanted to carry this mission much further than herself, and thus, JoannaCare, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization was created.I had the distinct privilege of having been asked to create the cake for the JoannaC
