FUN CAKES: September 2010

In addition to the many wedding cakes created, September has been such a great month for "fun" cakes.

First, Miss Bella celebrated her 5th birthday with an Ice Cream Sundae theme. On the top of her cake I used waffle cones to make a bowl, then filled the bowl with little cakes (choc/van/s-berry). This came out so cute.

Speaking of cute ..... Mr. Brady celebrated his 1st birthday with a turtle theme. LOVE his little smash cake !!!

Family friend, Frank celebrated his Big 5-0. Cupcakes were in order.












Next, Joellyn requested a couple of items ... first, these adorable cupcakes for a pool party ... a little blue icing, some gummy ring, animal crackers and little umbrellas.

Three cousins were together to celebrate their birthdays ... Margaret - Greta - Rucker. The cake was created using their favorite colors. Love how the lettering came out on this one.

To close out the month, Hudson celebrated his 1st Birthday with many friends and family around. His mom suggested a Sock Monkey theme. Loved how this cake turned out.

WEDDING: Scott-Jackson, Reunion Hall, 9/19/10

Paige Scott and Josh Jackson chose Reunion Hall in Hoschton as the site of their wedding and the reception. It is a lovely facility. The buildings leading up to the hall remind me of Boston (my home town).

Sunday was a gorgeous day .... while the bride and her court were outside having photos taken .. the boys were in the reception area watching the Falcon's kill their opponent.





Paige Scott designed a beautiful cake of alternating single dot and quilt designs. Ivory icing with ivory ribbon at the base highlighted with light pink gerbera daisies .... sorry for the poor shot of the cake, I must have moved.

The Grooms cake ... now that was special. Josh is a major Falcons fan, so this two tiered cake had to have the falcon logo ... then we added strawberries in red/white/black "jerseys". GO FALCONS !!!

WEDDING: Keskeny-McCall, Flint Hill, 9/18/10

Jen Keskeny and Chris McCall chose Flint Hill in Norcross as the location of their reception. As always, the folks at Flint Hill were gracious and willing to help in any way they could. LOVE this venue.


Jen fell in love with the "fat dot" design ... so here is her "fat dot" cake with Navy ribbon at the base. If you look close at the cake topper (yes, there really is one on the top of the cake) ... it's an acrylic heart etched with their names and wedding date.

For the groom cake, Chris wanted to show his faithfulness to his DAWGS .. so the Georgia "G" was in order. So sorry they lost their game that day! : (

WEDDING: Travis-Smith, Anthony's Fine Dining, 9/17/10

Remember ... if you have plenty of wedding cake, you can always use the grooms cake at the rehearsal dinner. This is what Rob and Kelly chose to do. This Golf Ball cake with picked up on Thursday and brought to Maggiano's (Perimeter) for all to enjoy.



Kelly Travis and Rob Smith chose Anthony's Fine Dining as the site of their reception ... I've never had the opportunity to dine at Anthony's but have heard it is very good.



Kelly and Rob needed a "cutting cake" and cupcakes. A cutting cake is a little 6" cake made specifically for the "cake cutting ceremony". The Fat Dot design was chosen ... add a lovely arrangement on the top and you've got one pretty cake.

Bring on the cupcakes !!! 18 dozen to be exact ... Red Velvet, Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla. When I went back later that evening, the hot "flavors" were Red Velvet and Strawberry !!! Folks were taking them out of the box as I was helping pack the leftovers.

WEDDING: Joiner-Firouzabadi, Roswell River Landing, 9/4/10

What a beautiful day Jordan and Cyrus picked for their wedding. Not too hot .. a nice breeze ... bright blue sky ... and when I went back later that evening to pick up the plateau .... everyone was outside in the back dancing and having a great time.

Roswell River Landing was chosen as the site of Jordan Joiner and Cyrus Firouzabadi's reception. It's a great venue. It's very "plain", so that means you can come in and decorate it any way you want. You can really show off your personality.

A pretty blue ribbon was added to the bottom of each tier along with the "fat dot" design. Thought the cake turned out real nice.

NOTE TO BRIDES: If you are paying your florist for cake floral .. please make sure your florist delivers and/or provides it !!! Otherwise I have to snip hear and there at your centerpieces to get enough floral for your cake.

WEDDING: Bell-Nelson, FireWater Chop House, 9/3/10

Erin arrived for the tasting appointment with her parents, Joyce and John (friends of a dear friend) ... Erin would have been just fine with just a courthouse wedding, but a little celebration (reception) after the wedding wouldn't hurt either. So, Erin and Mike wed at the Forsyth County Courthouse and their reception was held at the FireWater Chop House in Cumming.

Their union also meant a "football" house divided ... so we brought some fun to the cake as well. Both tiers were vanilla filled with Cookies n' Cream ... Georgia (UGA) was represented on the left; and Georgia Tech on the right.
