Matteo Turns One !!!

Matteo's mom came to me with samples of colors and different wrapping papers she was planning to use for his 1st birthday celebration. She planned to have piles of boxes full of gifts for Matteo. So I created a pile of boxes out of cake ... using the patterns on the wrapping paper. I love it when my customers let me run with my creativity.

Caldwell-Richard, Bona Allen Mansion, 8/30/8

Our third and final delivery of the day .... was to the Bona Allen Mansion in Buford .... for the wedding of Nichole Caldwell-Richard. This was my first time to Bona Allen Mansion. I couldn't get over its size and beauty. To quote Nichole's mom ..... she marches to her own beat ... which is one of the reasons why I liked her. She designed her cake ... wanted tree branches drawn on her cake with little yellow dots (flowers) .. and that's what she got. I used dark chocolate to create the branches. Placed it on my dark brown plateau, and it surprisingly went well with the dark mahogany interior of the mansion.

Calhoun-Pagad, St. Oliver's, 8/30/8

Our first of 3 deliveries for the day ... brought us to Snellville (St. Oliver's) for the reception of Michelle Calhoun and Elmer Pagad. She was a DIY bride ... and did so much for her day. I thought their cake came out cute ... love the heart design. I'm sure Elmer (an avid bowler) appreciated his bowling ball groom cake.

Lewis-Kim, Park Tavern, 8/30/8

Our second of 3 deliveries for the day .... we head to Atlanta for the reception of Cathy Lewis and Danny Kim. What a great pair. So in love. We flew (75+ mph) to Park Tavern (Piedmont Park). I actually took a half way decent shot of the wedding cake, but have replaced it with the pro shot anyway. Danny came out to say hello while I was setting up the cake. My job is awesome .. I get to see my clients on the happiest day of their life !!! This couple had a little bit of drama on their day however, but when I went back later that night to pick up the cake plateau's ... both Cathy and Danny had relaxed and were "dancing fools" on the dance floor and were having a great time.

Cathy had asked me to make an extra cake for display .. it was a Grandparent's cake ... and it was to honor the memory of Cathy's grandparents (who just had recently passed). The cake topper was the actual cake topper the Grandparents used when they got married (70 years ago).

Parks-Evans, LIT Kitchen, 8/23/8

Amy Parks and Chad Evans .... Amy contacted and met with me last year (2007) .... then decided to go with a "family friend" for the cake. I got a call about a month before the wedding ..... it was just meant to be that I was still available for her and she at last reserved my services. Their reception was held at the LIT Kitchen in Buckhead (near Atlantic Station). The kitchen is a "teaching" kitchen ... want-to-be chefs come in and cook .. might have to go check it out one of these nights for dinner.

Check out that gorgeous rust wall behind the cake ... it really set the cake off .... I'm thankful that the photographer captured it.
Photo's provided by Amy (the bride) THANK YOU.

Hamel-Hudson, Chateau Elan, 8/22/8

Clay was able to leave work a little early to help me deliver a 5-tier cake (and groom cake) to Chateau Elan (a favorite venue of mine) for the wedding of Jennifer Hamel and David Hudson. She's now ..... Jennifer Hudson (hahaha). They reside in New York, but had the reception here. There were strong winds blowing from the hurricane of that week ... causing a nice breeze for an outdoor reception. Loved this couple. The Chateau's Outdoor Pavillion is incredibly beautiful when you add twinkle lights in the ceiling and ceiling sheer drapes. Combine that with candles, beautiful centerpieces, a great DJ, and you've got one awesome reception. Jennifer modified one of my designs done a year prior to make it her own. David is an avid Scrabble player and provided the scrabble words for his cake.

Baker-Songy, Atlanta History Center, 8/2/8

As we leave the house towards Atlanta for the delivery of this 5-tier beauty for the reception of Kim Baker and David Songy .... we look at the big black sky off to the west. As we unload the truck, we hear the thunder in the distance. As I'm assembling the cake, I look out the huge windows of the Atlanta History Center Grand Overlook Ballroom to see the trees bending and twisting, hail, lightning, and lots and lots of rain. All I could think about was Kim .. did she make it to the Church before the skies opened up ??? After the downpour, the sky became blue again and it was a lovely day .... but what a start ..........
