WEDDING: Moore-Sakurai, Payne-Corley House, 4/28/13

BRIDE:  Sarah Moore
GROOM:  Tetsuro Sakurai
VENUE:  Payne-Corley House, Duluth

I never got the pleasure to meet the groom, but I did have the pleasure of meeting Sarah (the bride) and her sister Katie.  These two girls have to be the nicest on the planet.  That's all there is to it.  At our first meeting, Sarah brought me a gift (scrumptious cookies from Japan) ... just for taking time to meet with them. Subsequent meetings yielded warm friendship hugs.  It was a tough decision, but an all over scroll design was decided on for the cake.

About 3 weeks prior to the wedding, I received an email from Sarah (now located in Tokyo) exploring the possibility of changing the design.  After numerous emails, sketches, attachments, and conversation, the design was changed.  This is my version of an Art Nouveau styled wedding cake - incorporating the wedding invitation design with birds: cranes/swallows and a faint pink cherry blossom to add a little Japanese touch.  I believe it came out beautifully and can't wait to see and receive the professional images.
