Shearon-Smith, Sam & Roscoe's, 2/22/8

Heather Shearon and Preston Smith's ceremony was held at Rhodes Hall in Atlanta at 6:00p ...... from there their guests (and vendors) travelled to Douglasville for an 8:00p reception at Sam & Roscoe's.

Sam and Roscoe's was a favorite spot of the happy couple and they wanted to share the experience with all of their guests. The aroma in this (Italian) restaurant was wonderful. They had used my plateau to showcase their cake, and I had to stay in the vicinity in order to pick it up at the end of their evening. We were starved at this point, why dine anywhere else ... so, Clay and I asked for a quiet table and stayed for dinner. It was scrumptious.

Ong-Snider, The Vinings Club, 1/5/8

My first wedding cake of 2008 and cover of my 2008 portfolio. Sarah Ong and JW Snider had a gorgeous reception at The Vinings Club. This was my first of many weddings of the year with Carla Duncan as the Florist. Dang, she does good work.

Sarah and JW's cake sat on a grand piano (needed a step ladder to assemble and decorate it). It looks like there was a spotlight on the cake, but there wasn't ... I'm sure it was the talents of the photographer that made it look so good.

THE KNOT BEST OF WEDDINGS 2008

This one was a little different. I got a call back in December of 2007 from The Knot to inform me that I had been chosen as one of the best vendors in the Atlanta area and my contact information will be published in their upcomig Best of Weddings 2008 magazine. So, on page 154 you'll find my contact info; but on page 156 (and I had no idea this was going to happen) you'll see one of my cakes ... "The Mayan" (aka the "stick" cake).

Here's their (The Knot's) official write-up of the magazine: The Knot Best of Weddings Magazine is a coast-to-coast guide to the country's top florists, venues, photographers, cakes, and everything in between as rated by real brides. Bursting at the seams with hundreds of beautiful photos, real-world advice, top 10 lists, and planning tips, The Knot Best of Weddings is a must-have magazine for any bride-to-be that knows only the best will do. 300 pages. Published by The Knot Inc.

I have heard comments that vendors "pay" to get in this book ..... I'm here to straighten that rumor out ... I do not advertise. All of my business comes from word of mouth recommendation ... I've always felt that was the best form of advertising. It is comments from my customers that got me into that book and I am forever grateful. Apparently, there is some kind of post-wedding survey that the The Knot conducts. It is those results that dictate who gets in this special issue.

THANK YOU to all of my 2007 brides for making it possible for me to be in this issue.

WELCOME and THANKS !!!!!

When I was in middle school, I loved and excelled in Art class. But as I approached high school, my guidance counselor said "don't get into Art .. it will never get you anywhere". So I dropped art and spent decades in the corporate environment in secretarial and project management positions. Today, thru my cake designs, I'm back in art and love what I do. Thank you to my many brides and regular customers for allowing me to play such an important role with their special events.

Now, I couldn't do this without .... my husband, Clay. The love of my life. He is my legs and my strength and affectionately known out in the industry as "The Cake Lady's Man" and/or "The Cake Wrangler".

THIS BLOG: A special thank you goes to Jody Lynn Williams ... whose perseverance made this blog a reality. Jody was one of my 2005 brides and her cake design is one of my most requested. Since 2005, she has been determined to create an avenue for future clients to view my work. Although this blog is still under construction ... I'll update each week to share my weekend "projects". I hope you enjoy it.

PHOTO GALLERY - 2007

Please enjoy these photo's from 2007. If your cake isn't pictured, although I haven't scanned every shot I have, there's a good chance I don't have the professional shot (which I would certainly welcome).

THE KNOT - GEORGIA - Fall/Winter 2007

Oh my .... I'm in my second magazine ... and this time I'm not mentioned once, nor twice, but THREE TIMES .. in one magazine. Awesome.

- Table of Contents .... you'll see one of my cakes

- Page 36 - Wedding of Jennifer Dempsey and Kevin Black was spotlighted ... and there's the cake

- Page 59 - Wedding of Maya Egosi and Matt Naar ... huge pic of my cake.

The cake done for Maya and Matt is one that I refer to as "The Mayan" (for Maya) .. it's also known as the "stick" cake. It is very popular.

Please enjoy these photo's from 2006. If you don't see your event, it means either that I haven't finished scanning or don't have a professional shot (which I certainly would welcome). Enjoy.
